Bahamas

Plea
Pray for the Bahamas. My heart hasn't figured out the best way to help. Doing research.
Love.

  1. If I may, I'd like to suggest donating through the United Methodist Committee on Relief. 100% of your donation goes to the cause you select. There are, of course administrative costs, but the church itself pays them out of separate funds. No proselytizing is included in aid and relief efforts. https://www.umcmission.org/umcor/serve/international-disaster-response

About UMCOR from Wikipedia: "Financing and donations
Unlike most relief organizations, UMCOR was designed so that 100 percent of all donations go directly to the intended projects. This goal was achieved by instituting the One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) donation. The OGHS is an annual collection taken at United Methodist churches around the world in March. UMCOR receives enough support through OGHS each year to cover all overhead, administrative, and operation costs for the coming year. Excess funds received from OGHS are directed to UMCOR's most urgent or least funded projects. Every dollar received in response to emergency appeals is spent on direct relief."

I'm hesitant to fill this comment with links, but Consumer Reports rates them highly, and Charity Watch gives them an A+.

  6. We sent our through Samaritan's Purse, Franklin Graham's outfit. Prayer+ rebuilding+food and clothes+ evangelism. But any way you help is help, and God smiles on it all.

  7. I've heard that there are three charities that specifically get the money to the Bahamas to either get what can be got there -- and consequently also help what is left of the economy in recovery by buying what can be bought locally; or to purchase things that are needed. I can't remember one but the others were Salvation Army and Red Cross -- specify Bahamas in the donation.
