CP and Christianity

This weekend I enjoyed one of life's greatest pleasures:  I got to see one of my nephews, Andrew.  Yesterday, when I had a spare moment of quiet time, I wrote out three things Cerebral Palsy has given me.  Cerebral Palsy has led me to faith, understanding and compassion.  Now it also tested the very things it has given to me.  It has also led to truth, a reality I may not always like.  I have always asked why?, but it bears no fruit.  God has me here to bear fruit.
So many of you have inspired me to be or rather revel in being a Chosen Child of God.
Thank you to Dee and Lauren, my pen pals. Thank you all, I am blessed and grateful!

God is good

I realize I need God everyday, not some days.  God will help me fix or find solutions to my problems if I like it.  He is equipping me.  As one of my favorite songs says; "I'm getting back to The Heart of Worship". The act of surrender may be the most selfless act.

What I fear

While I try to project optimism, I am pessimist.  When Dee posted a comment on the blog post " Food for thought", it gave me a grin, and then panic.  What she wrote, is classic me.  I worry about the future so much, I can't fully enjoy the present.  Viewing my disability as a strength, that may take a while.  Sometimes, I really do love the person I see in the mirror, even if you don't hear me admit it, but mainly I see the flaws, and I pick myself apart.  It's an ugly habit, I know.  I sin everyday, when I worry, and am anxious.  I feel like a bad person, even though I am not.
Learning to be kind to self is an ongoing journey into or onto discovery.

Food for thought

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day, if you needed the reminder.  Valentine's Day has not really ever been a day I like.  Maybe because of the lack of a Valentine.  I know I shouldn't put my self-worth there.  And I  don't need to explain what "there" references.  I have always been passive, so now trying to be assertive in seeking what I want out of life has been painfully difficult.  They say it's never too late, but I can only wonder what if?.  I don't want to blame Cerebral Palsy, but I wonder how many years I have let myself be held hostage by implied iniquities.  The worst habits are the hardest to sever.  The habit has almost surpassed the difficulty Cerebral Palsy may present.  And I have heard:  "You must love yourself". I know it's truth.  Trust me.  I don't want to sound ungrateful, I just know I am not unique in this respect, I'm just human.  The Valentine whose heart is Theirs played a song for me that let me find Him.  In this moment, that is the best present.  He wants me to live in the present, so He can lead me to the future.

There is a piece in The New York Times that has inspired me and made me think.  It's a conversation between fashion designer Diane Von Furstenburg and movie director David O'Russell.  It's a story of love, life, struggle and perseverance.  Read it if you like.  Would love to discuss!

Olympic Winter Cities

Since I am loving the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, I looked at the list of former Winter host cities.  I would love to visit Chamonix, the 1924 host city, San Moritz, Albertville and Lillehammer.  Maybe Nagano.  Japan looks so pretty!

The right word at the right time

I am so blessed that God is providing me guidance when I need it.  It is like He knows exactly what I need when I'll need it.  He is right on time, and always a faithful God.  There is a Contemporary Gospel song by William McDowell, that inspires and encourages me.  It's called "I Give Myself Away". There's a a lyric or verse that gets me I think all the time.  "Lord I give myself away so you can use me."  What a thought, is it not?

Does it seem that you must be at your lowest, before you realize that strength is not what will save you.  It's at the bottom when you look to the Top.  God has been molding whether I realize it or not.  Maybe it's good, I don't realize it.  There are so many emotions running through me.

Inspiration lacking

I read Cee's blog, coco and vera yesterday. And I could relate.  Sometimes I feel like I have nothing worth reading.  I was worried this morning about just this thought.  My mom then wanted to change my cover photo on Facebook.  The photo just set off so many emotions.  Inspiration comes when it does.

Methinks

I am a flawed human being.  As much as I am happy for other people's success, it angers me that I haven't reached their level of success or surpassed it.  My feeling reeks of jealousy and envy.  I am so attuned to this.  The feeling frustrates me.  I compare myself to others.  I know it is wrong.  I can't quantify my success, or in a way I'd like.  I thought my daily devotional was Psalm 58.  It wasn't, but God wanted me to read it.  Psalm 58's verse 11 reads:  "Then at last everyone will say, " There is truly a reward for those who live for God; surely there is a God who judges justly here on earth".
The Lord knew what I needed.  He provides what I need before I know it.  Amazing.

One of the greatest blessings one can receive is the feeling of being wanted without any conditions or perceived motivations.  So when you click on my blog or someone wants to hang out with me just because, it's like being given a priceless gift.  One of the hardest lessons to learn is the ability to be taught or teachable.  And anybody can teach you, if willing, trust me.  As the Jeremy Camp song title says, "Walking by Faith" may be tasking, but worth it.  There was a quote that said something to the effect that if something is easy, that's its only reward.  And I didn't fully understand what it meant until right now.
