Wise words

You ever have a friend who make life so simple yet meaningful.  I was speaking to such a friend the other day who had these wise words for me.
Pray for what you want.  Pray that God gives you what you need.  Pray that God gives you the wisdom to understand why you need it.

Summer travel

Travel is as much a part of summer as the heat is, I think!  My friends do you have any fun travel plans this summer?  I would love to hear?  What is the one thing you definitely pack for yor summer trip?  One practical and one fun thing.

Hard on myself

Today, I got to do tasks for the first time.  Going into the drugstore all by myself, enjoying the shopping experience, making a purchase and then returning to the car was a monumental task for me.  It makes me feel that independence may be possible.
To think I enjoyed the music while perusing the card aisle without a panic attack.  I usually go into a store, making a mad dash to make my purchases, and run back to the car in a hurry.  Once in the car, I take a deep breath in relief when the task is completed.  This cycle of events didn't happen today.  Yay for small victories!
God is so good, and I don't thank him near enough!

Healthy eating

I have realized I need to eat better.  In an attempt to do this, I need your help.  I may make a trip to the grocery store tomorrow.  What are some of your favorite healthy options?  I don't want to sacrifice taste either.  Snacks, favorite meals or anything you'd like to share?  Looking forward to your suggestions!

Learning to let go

This is very hard for me.  I want to do it all myself.  Today's sermon at church dealt with this topic.  The pastor said that we are to live relationally with Jesus Christ and with others.  Everyone has weakness but with a disability you are very attuned to your limitations, and having to ask for help doing the most basic of a task like cutting meat with a knife.  As much as I would love to do it myself, there is a point where I must ask for help.  I try to think of all I have achieved, but I am never satisfied.  I don't know where I saw this, but it asked this question.  If you achieved nothing else in this life, would the gift of your salvation be enough for you?  Something to think about, isn't it?  I always finds the flaws than the good, and this needs to change, so I can answer the question above.  If the gift of my salvation is enough than I will accept all of what He bestows upon me, and the clean slate He offered when He bore my sin as His own.

What a thought

After taking prayer requests yesterday, it never occurred to me that you would ask me if I had any myself.  I'm so used to praying for others, rather than being prayed for.  I would ask that you pray that I love the person God made me to be.  Self-acceptance is a daily battle.  I had to step off the treadmill, and go to the bathroom mirror and tell myself I a beautiful as loud as I could while smiling.

What a compliment can do

I have to thank CharlotteHavs for this!  She left me the sweetest compliment when she commented on a post the other day.  Sometimes a kind word can make all the difference.  It was just what my spirit needed, and God Himself knew it.  If I say it a million times, I thank God for your kindness and encouragement.  Just trying to be a blessing.
