I have realized I need to eat better. In an attempt to do this, I need your help. I may make a trip to the grocery store tomorrow. What are some of your favorite healthy options? I don't want to sacrifice taste either. Snacks, favorite meals or anything you'd like to share? Looking forward to your suggestions!

I just started eating healthy a couple of weeks ago... I love hummus and wraps with lean chicken or turkey slices and lots of vegetable. These lunches fill me up.
ReplyDeleteI have many different foods, you really need to find the foods you like and figure out how to lower the calories in them... the most important is that you continue to enjoy your food... otherwise you will not stay with it.
I like to eat healthy choice meals for lunch when I need a quick one...they taste good and they are the perfect portion. I also like low fat yogurt and low fat cottage cheese for snacks. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love salads!! For lunch I try to always have a large salad with protein and good veggies for toppings. Dinner, every time I have a small din salad before my main entree. Help fill me up faster.

Eating healthy is a constant challenge for me but I usually do it during the week and then splurge on the weekends, it's a good balance that works for me. Anyway, I have a few healthy recipe options on my blog in case you want to check it out.

Funny how I discussed the topic eating today too (only about eating disorders so please DON'T do that!). Healthy eating is about balance: you probably know what's good for you and not-so-good, right? The so-called naughty foods are tempting for a good reason, but moderation is key for them :).

My favourite simple and healthy meal is rice and beans; cook brown rice normally, adding whatever spices you like (chili powder, cumin, cayenne, etc.) to the water. In a separate pot, cook black beans and onions with a little bit of healthy oil. Serve it together for a meal that is full of protein, fiber and flavour!

ReplyDeleteI have quite a few healthy recipes on my blog, that might interest you. One of my summer favorites is couscous or quinoa salad, when I'm hungry in the middle of the day and want to be super healthy i eat a plain avocado and just add a little oil and balsamic vinegar to it, I love experimenting with juices too like combining different ingredients such as celery, spinach, lime, ginger and apple ;)

This is actually one of my resolutions but one that is very hard to keep. On days I want to eat healthy, I just snack on some fruits and stay away from too much sweets as much as possible. For breakfast I have whole wheat sandwich with salmon, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. Plus some healthy servings of fruits. :)

I'm currently tryna follow a healthy diet as well. This is the kind of meal I have everyday.
ReplyDeleteBreakfast: Green tea and a low fat yogurt. Lunch: Tuna Salad, or Salmon with side salad. Snack: 8g almonds and an apple. Dinner: Boiled egg.
Haven't been a torture so far, 'cause thankfully I enjoy healthy food as much as junk food! :P

We love fajita salads (shredded lettuce, peppers, chicken strips, tomatos, onions, cheese and salsa), shrimp on marinara and spaghetti or tuna salad sandwiches!
ReplyDeleteFruit! Hmmm,...and stir fried vegetables, and sweet potatoes and sauteed peppers....so many options. Good luck!

I find it helpful to eat a variety of healthy food. Variety keeps it from getting boring. Chicken breast chopped up in a salad is a favourite dinner of mine. And fruit is a sweet snack any time :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on my last post :)

Blueberries are really good for a healthy snack-y thing! Also if you're looking for something for meals you could try a flavoured cous cous (we have a lemon and herb in our local store) with chopped peppers, cucumber, celery and ham- it's really nice and makes you feel good too!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment! :)
