Writing as a lost art

I miss the days of the idea of pen pals.  I love receiving handwritten cards and notes.  When I get "snail mail", I get a warm, fuzzy feeling.  What makes you get a warm, fuzzy feeling?  Right now, I have to be still and know that I am God.

Take heart

It's amazing how God comes through in the clutch.  A prompting to read my daily Scripture.  Providing the app to be at my fingertips.  Reading Joanna Goddard's latest blog post from her awesome blog Cup of Jo.  He's in the details of everything.  When I fall, He picks me up.  Does He give me more than I can, as I saw a recent piece posted to Facebook, I think.  It's where I saw it.  Maybe He does, but if He does or does not I believe is because He trusts I can handle it.
I must trust His Word.  My hope is that your struggle doesn't become your defining moment, but rather a passing moment.

My heart

Left a piece of my heart this morning.  My nephew, Andrew, is so sweet.  Had so much fun with him these past few days.
Rest is on the agenda for today.

How are you staying warm in all this cold?  Just reading blogs by the fireplace.  Any prayer or praise reports?  Would you continue to pray for God's understanding as we continue to grieve the loss of our beloved Pop Pop.

Pop Pop

I didn't want to write this!  In doing so, it feels like I'm closing a chapter of my life.  It's painful to know that you have been gone since New Year's Eve.  The thing is I keep remembering your mannerisms- how you ate a banana with your pills, scraping the bowl for every Cheerio or is that me?  How you'd tell me to think and not give while doing The Sun-Sentinel crossword puzzle.  You'd always give me the Sports page after you read it yourself.   I will miss our sports discussions.  You loved your Dolphins.  Super Bowl Sunday or the NFL Draft won't be the same.  I have so many memories of us together that make me smile, and yet shed a tear.  As I remember and reminisce, I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge how much of you resides in me.  When I go into the world they're are to two things I'd like:  For Christ to be seen in me, and for someone to say, "Leo, sure would be smiling with pride."  My Pop Pop, you made the dash count.
