Observe

Yesterday I went analog for seven hours. So simple yet so revolutionary. Did I feel like I was missing something. Yes. Did I constantly search for it wanting to take a picture of something?  Yes. Then I had to remember what life was like before phones. Like survival skills almost. What did I learn yesterday.

Lack of information inundation leads to true presence.

You are more observant.

You use your imagination.

You turn to music.

And after going analog, you breathe a sigh of relief. For making it when you realize how dependent you are on your phone.

  1. What a great exercise! I assume your analog time was your choice? I like what you learned and can see how all of those things would be true. Thanks for sharing your conclusions/thoughts :).

  2. So true, we have become so dependent on our phones.

  3. What a smart thing to do. Since I'm not on Facebook I'm not on my phone like I was back then. It's that " need to know" and I found out that I don't need to know everything. Taught me to just be content.

  4. What a powerful experience! We are so used to be connected to everything all the time that it can become overwhelming. It is nice to take breaks and be more present <3

  6. So true. I'm always amazed by people who go for a walk outside only to never look beyond their phones. There's a beautiful wide world out there if you just remember to look up. ;D

  7. We've somehow lost human connection in a digital world where it's supposed to be easier to connect. I miss the days of in-person communicating. Everything feels so impersonal and oftentimes fake anymore.

  9. You're right, so many wonderful things happen when we go and observe without all the distractions. Enjoy the weekend, dear Regine.

  10. So true! We had an internet outage earlier in the week and while I did feel like I was missing out on a lot of things, I was more productive and was able to finish a book quite a bit faster than I thought I would.
