Not a proud moment again

I have been doing a lot of thinking lately.  This can be a dangerous thing for me.  When life forces you to make changes you didn't want to make yet.  Or being happy for others' happiness.  I feel like a terrible person right now.  On one hand I am outwardly happy for them, I really am, but silently wondering when my time will come.  I guess this is progress when you can admit what about yourself what you really don't like.  The song says "I find you when I fall apart."  I don't know the artist right now.  As another song says, "I'm coming to you open and broken."  2 Timothy is in my devotional today.  "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7
I am using all of this to admit the parts of myself I would rather not bare.  I know I shouldn't care what other people think, but I hope nobody hates me.
Truth will set you free.  In this regard, I hope this cliche rings true.

Reality Thursday

I am going to hate writing this.  I read a passage today reminding me of some of the Ten Commandments.  Do not murder, do no steal, do not covet.  It seems like I have been doing a lot of coveting of records, things, and so much more.  If a record is broken or an achievement is made, I need to be happy for them in word and deed.  We don't like to the fault and flaws in our own lives.  I have been more sinful than I care to admit.  My achievements will come I have to believe.  A commenter on the blog wrote something that I keep rereading.  When she goes to a funeral she said, 'they mention the accomplishment, but for the most part they remember who the person was.'
At the end of the day, my achievements may be a mile long or wide, but the only thing people will mostly likely remember is who I was, not what I achieved.
Dear readers, Thank you for getting me out of me, if only for a day.  Today my heart is open and free.
You have made this blogger a very grateful girl.

well, hi there!

It's cold and rainy in my neck of the woods today!  Cold, rainy days do not agree with me and my muscles.  I have been thinking lately about denial.  Sometimes I deny who I am.  Sure I would love the trophies of a Djokovic, Federer or Nadal, but I am no athletic specimen.  I will probably not break records or be well known.  I just simply write. Write words. That's all.  That is all.  I wonder if it's enough.  Do I need my name in a record book, or to be idolized?  No, but it crosses my mind.

Dreaming on a Monday

I was watching the Price is Right today, and I love the showcases at the end, so this would be my ideal showcase.
The theme would be A French Affair.
First would be a collection of French shoes...preferably sandals and ballet flats from Repetto, Chanel and Louboutin.
Then I would use those sandals for a trip to St. Barts, strolling along Gustavia harbor.
Last but not least, I would be whisked to Paris, Provence and St. Tropez for an incredible French rendezvous with spending money thrown in for good measure for some good shopping time.
I know I really am dreaming.

Who am I?

I am dreading this post, for it forces me to be real, expose the blemishes.  This weekend, I realized that life really doesn't work perfectly.  My stroke and subsequent Cerebral Palsy force me to do something I absolutely need to do more often.  Ask for help!  I wish I could be totally self-sufficient, but that's not plausible at the moment.  I cannot drive.  I cannot read a map.  No depth perception and an inability to sequence make both a near impossibility.  I can speak foreign languages, yet cannot follow GPS most of the time.  To feel so smart, and yet so dumb at the same time.  It's embarrassing to admit this.  I need help, and I am ashamed that I need it.
I hate being a burden, maybe one day I will eradicate that word from my vocabulary, but that dear friends will require some help.
Could I ask you for your help, today?
Help me look at the glass half-full, and get rid of that word, burden!

I am having to swallow a tough pill this morning.  I have focused so much on growing the blog, that it has led to some burnout.  I have a need for immediate gratification that needs to be quashed.  I have  lost sight of why I write, why I blog.  It should be for me, not others' expectations.  The growth of the blog should be organic not forced for me.  I know it's Friday, and should be a fun post, but I need to listen to that still and small voice inside showing me otherwise!  This song whose title I can't remember has been on my heart.  "We fall down, we lay our crowns at the feet of Jesus!"

What's in a number?

I have been dreading this post.  It seems like lately I equate importance with a number.  I know it's sad.  Be it a sports record being broken with X number of majors won, number of page views, the list could go on.  It sounds trivial and stupid, and it is.  I wish it weren't so.  I am having to ask God to help me see life, not as a number to be achieved.  I don't think God will ask me:  How many Majors did I win?  No, I think He wants to know, how many people I may have helped bring into His Kingdom.  So while this post marks a monumental marker in terms of number, I just hope to be making Him proud, not because of the number, but because of what these posts mean.

Today has been a good day in that I am reminded how blessed I am!  I know I say it a lot!  I am blessed to know God's mercy, grace, and love in and on my life.  Why God chose to bless me with CP, I will never know.  It is a big step to type that last sentence!  I just know that God's continue to give me hope and a future.

It never ceases to amaze me that no matter how blessed I am, I still may look at the glass half-empty.  A thousand things may be great, but I choose to focus on the one negative thing that occupies my brain.
To combat this, this is my gratitude list for today:

3.  My sister thriving after having given birth after 36 hours of labor
