kindness

 God

You love

My eccentricity

Where I

Gravitate

Towards

Nicks and Taylor

No bubblegum pop

Where I keep

Loving those

Who don’t return

The favor

So easy

To hate

What we don’t like

Myself included

Have to let

You rid me

Of my biases

MLK Jr

Said hate

Was too big

A burden to bear

When will

We learn

You know

My dreams

But right now

You want my soul

Before the world

Crushes it

Glory

Records

To be remembered

And yet

Everything

With time

Is eclipsed

Broken

Waiting

To be conquered

Cerebral Palsy

Forces me

To live

In reality

One that

Isn’t pretty

Or forgiving

Yet acceptance

Of the

Immense privilege

I have

That you provide

Kindness

In unexpected ways

  6. Beautiful poem.
I always enjoy reading your reflections in your poetry.
Life gives us many burdens to carry.
But as MLK Jr said- Hate is to big a burden to carry.
    I love that quote.
We all have our burdens. We cannot choose them.
But we can choose not to remain in empty hate.
We can choose to love and open our heart.
    Have a blessed weekend!

  7. Such a raw and powerful reflection on life, love, and self-acceptance. The poem beautifully captures the struggle of embracing one's uniqueness, the pain of unreciprocated love, and the ongoing battle with personal biases. The mention of figures like MLK Jr. and the profound insight about hate as a burden resonate deeply, urging us to seek kindness and understanding, both from others and ourselves. The honest acknowledgment of living with cerebral palsy and finding strength and privilege in unexpected places is truly moving.

  10. Yes, He always provides kindness to us. Keep loving, my friend, even when people don't. I was thinking about that just yesterday. That is what the world is missing.
