As I watch the Bills lose, I realize that I root for teams that come up painfully short. I don’t regret rooting for these teams. What I have in common with these teams is we have heart, maybe not the killer instinct or the breaks. I realize, however, at the end of the day, that winning a trophy is outward adulation. Why do you Toronto and Buffalo, adept in surviving frozen depths, teach me the most important lessons. Lessons I don’t want to learn, but do anyway.
It seems like I will always root for the affable loser, than the triumphant victor. I don’t know what that says about me. We losers know how to win where it really counts: LIFE. God, never stops teaching. Let’s hope I never tire of learning.
God bless you all. I love you.
Keep learning, beloved one, because God will never tire of teaching. Sending love to you, too!
ReplyDeleteoooooh it was such a good game, either team could have won. once you commit to supporting a team, i feel you should stick with them...through the good, the bad and the ugly!! i thought the bills played very well and are a great team!! i support and love the kc chiefs, no matter what!! you are still learning!!
ReplyDeleteThat says a lot about you and it’s all goodness of heart. God Bless Regine :)
ReplyDeleteI often do the same, Regine. True, I have my favorites, good or bad. But you've gotta love those who try so hard!
ReplyDeleteSorry about your team
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteI don't really pay much attention to the games, but my hubby does, and he was also rooting for the Bills last night, so I was rooting alongside him and we were both disappointed in the outcome. It was SO CLOSE! They certainly put up a good fight. Life is often like that...we put up a good fight but we don't always win the prize, yet life goes on and we learn from our mistakes and pick ourselves up and get "back in the game". There's much good to be learned in losing. We learn perseverance, humility, and how to grow in grace. We should keep our eyes on the bigger prize that awaits us in heaven some day. It will be worth it all when we see Jesus.
ReplyDeleteSorry your team did not win! but as you said, sometimes there are lessons we need to learn when we don't win, and God is always there with us no matter the outcomes!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of the quote....
ReplyDelete"I am still learning."
~Michelangelo (Age 87)
We must keep learning and searching for the truth, my friend. : ) Have a blessed week ahead.
**I always root for the underdog too, Regine. ; )
DeleteTi auguro una settimana serena e mi raccomando continua tifare per chi perde.
ReplyDeletePrima o poi vinceranno
My parents would be considered "losers" by the world's standards. Poor in worldly wealth and poor often in spirit from the diseases that caused physical and mental pain. Yet their faith remained strong and I believe they are both living with Jesus now and will be forevermore. I think because of them, I have always been drawn to the down and outs in many areas including sports teams ;). Those were some good football games over the weekend, that's for sure. I was rooting for Buffalo- tough loss.
