Lemonade

The muddy water. I’m wading through it. Metaphor. I know, it’s life. Each day I feel the need to walk down to the pond and meditate. Let the summer sun take me away. Be one with the mosquitoes and bees. Take a swim in that water with the fish right beside me. Be one with the land. Let God’s creation envelope me in a hug. One I’ve denied myself for far too long. Maybe as we children, we have it right. Too much thinking, not enough doing. Jump, don’t hesitate. Not everything with bite unless we try. When I say we, I mean me. I’ve put off writing, beyond what I’ve gotten comfortable with, and that’s not when you grow. I want lots of things, but I’ve not put in the work. Anything worth doing takes effort, even if that is to remind myself to breathe and hydrate. I’m reading others’ words.  I need to read my own. That means I must write them. What’s the good with talent, if you don’t use it. It goes wasted.  I have always worried, and God has always said:  Go!  I won’t let you fail. If you do, it is alright. We’ve made failure a bad word. I need to embrace it. Success comes from repeated failure. I’ve stopped failing, because I stopped trying. The world’s must successful failure. I like the sound of that. Making lemonade again. It feels so good to get into the weeds again. Will you join me?

  1. Success only comes by repeated failure, Regine. Take that leap of faith!
    Blessings!

  2. Oh, Regine. You are so spot on. There's that old adage about mistakes being opportunities waiting to happen. Sometimes we just stop before we get it right, don't put in the time. When you said this: "I’ve put off writing, beyond what I’ve gotten comfortable with, and that’s not when you grow." I thought, "Yes! We get into ruts!" I'm that way with painting -- I go back to the familiar and forget to take the leap. I did a bit at art camp this summer where I made it a point to learn a new technique and then take an online lesson to learn something else. And guess what -- I won't be happy with my work for awhile, but it won't get better till I do it over and work with the mistakes. Edit. Rewrite. Or repaint. Sometmes being "in the weeds again" can be kind of fun! I'll join you!

  3. Lessons and learning; sharing yourself helps others, too.

  4. I think we as a society have a communal fear of failure instead of looking at it as a learning experience. Did I learn to ride a bike without falling?

  5. This is wonderful. Failure is not a bad word. I always told the kids you learn more from not succeeding than you do from succeeding. But I wouldn't say you learn more from failure because failure means you can't ever do it.

  7. We don't often buy in to the failure thing. Sometimes it's not the outcome we wanted, but since we tried we didn't fail. We learned.

  8. I've failed so many times, but we can't quit trying. When we succeed is so sweet.

Have a fabulous day, Regine. Big hug. ♥

  9. Dearest Regine,
Nothing is or comes free and often we have to try very hard and also many times for finally getting it done.
Would not want to jump into our pond for swimming maybe with a snapping turtle... Haha! Murky water too.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

I fail each and every day. But haven't given up yet.

  12. Fear of failure is only natural but we lose out from never trying and failures can actually be lessons for us to learn from as well.

  17. I just read something that said failure should be thought of as a stepping stone, not a final verdict!!!

  18. Awesome, I am so glad you are jumping into your writing. I do agree that as kids we would just do and not think, take risk and just plain enjoy every aspect of life. As adults we take less chances and think things out too much instead of just going with the flow :)

  19. Failure is the stairway to success, you know you are moving when you have a result, whether it is the result you are aiming for or not. And there is lots of learning to be done on the way to success.
    Stay safe
    Blessings

  21. I was watching "Batman Begins" and Bruce Wayne's father asks young Bruce, "Why do we fall? So we can learn to get up." As you have pointed out, success isn't enough. We don't move forward unless we fail.

  23. Regine, reading this makes one think. My dad once told me, when he became in his 80's, "Jim, doesn't everyone fall once in a while?" I thought, 'Oh my Goodness, he's started falling.' Mrs. Jim's mother fell in her back yard and couldn't get up. The neighbors heard her falling. I fell the other day in the back yard and couldn't get up from the dirt. Both my kneecaps have broken and not healed. Try getting up from the ground without using you knees. Mrs. Jim rescued me, she was outside and came in the front door and saw me laying on the ground way back in the back yard, so she came out and helped me get up.
"Doesn't everyone fail now and then?" Like the fall into the dirt, there will be a day when our bod's will be merging with the bees and mosquitos. Ashes to ashes, dirt to dirt when we die.
