Old school soul

 Day Two:

In the weeds I go. Time to get scraped, itchy and dirty. Strapping on the braces of discomfort. Please relish youth. You don’t get it back. I harken back to days of trying to drive a go-kart and failing miserably. I drove it in the gate five times. Covered in cow manure and sweat. Can you imagine?  An editorial for Vogue awaits me.  As frustrated as I was that day, it’s now a treasured memory. A keepsake of driving. I long for something I can’t do, but that day I did.  Failing in open spaces. Farm life gives you lessons that now cost hundreds in the therapy chair. I don’t regret either. I need both. I need to fall down, feel the earth and then discuss it.  It’s a pattern, I’m sure I don’t have the right to trademark. I’ve tasted grass, hay bales and bugs. There is no limit to what you encounter in the woods of Carolina. The morning call of the chickens has me brewing coffee at four in the morning. It’s not lost on me that the life I lead is a dream to many.  It’s only know as I sit and ruminate, that we don’t realize when mistakes become the biggest sources of gratitude.   Vogue cover girl am I?  Chanel dipped in old school soul.  Funnier things have happened

  1. Dearest Regine,
Farm life is the BEST common sense lesson for life!
Good memories are the best cushion for old age or at times when our bodies give out...
    Hugs,

  2. Ha! Learning to drive a standard 1940 truck in the woods...waterskiing-just once. Falling into a pool when all dressed up. Painful at the time; I couldn't laugh at myself then but I laugh now-a lot!

  3. I loved reading a little bit about your life, Regine. I'm an old school gal too. I smiled when you mentioned the farm life. I went to the creek Wednesday and saw about 30 cows! It was an incredible sight they were so close.

I loved hearing how you make yourself coffee at 4:00 in the morning. That sounds like the best cup of coffee of the day. : )

  5. Channel & maneuer rolled up in one post...gotta love it all!!

Living on a farm (life in general) can really TEACH us so much; some things forgotten, yet resurfaces as a memory of lesson taught.

I liked this post, very much.

  9. " relish youth, you don't get it back" - great advice! Falling, failing, and then discussing it - we need them both - very true.

  10. Mistakes become the greatest source of gratitude. Now that's a wonderful line. Besides, who says it's a mistake?

Yes, we all need to treasure the years of our youth (mishaps and allπŸ˜‰), but somehow most of us take them too much for granted, don't we?!

  22. "I need to fall down, feel the earth, and then discuss it." True words! We all need to fall down from time to time and feel the earth. It helps to keep our hubris in check and to value those who help to lift us up again. I enjoyed your post. Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving such a kind comment. 31. well..there ya go... making me at the same time love my life and also regret what I've missed, but some how have rediscovered again in the wings of a butterfly or even a silly hobby desiring to discover more and more painted rocks left along trails. To be youthful again - I think I am becoming that. Your life sounds like a dream - i like the way it sounds. "Chanel dipped in old school souls. heck yeah! Makes me want to get a Cola at Woolworths.

  32. You're right about our days past. The things we could do that our bodies won't allow anymore. But we find new things, new ways to grow. And we are lucky. Even when it's hard. If anyone needs a reminder of that, watch the nightly news as people flee Afghanistan.
