Finding contentment
In the rat race
That shows
The glimmer and glitz
The show
That looks
So alluring
That chasing it
Seems the road
To take
Until you realize
The path taken
Led to more
Disappointment
Because the world
Stopped caring
About every move
Made
The truth is
Comparison
Never brought
Anything but heartache
Manifesting itself
Inhaling processed sugar
Faster than Olympic sprinters
Dreaming of a day
Snapping peas
With the next door neighbor
As she shares her
Well earned wisdom
With this young
Whippersnapper
Fame fades
Money
A poor substitute
For love
And youth
Goes faster
Than the dollar
Spent at
The grocery store
Going out to smell
The lone red rose
As I meander
Down the gravel drive
Losing myself
In the music
Of Sir Paul
These are wise words -- and I'm with you with Sir Paul!
ReplyDeleteGood words! I love the thought of meandering down the gravel path, listening to the music.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! I am so glad I have taken the road less traveled and never really joined in the rat race.
ReplyDeleteI was in the rat race for many years. I was lucky to get out. I'm happy about that.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day and week, Regine. ♥
Comparison Never brought Anything but heartache...so true!
ReplyDeleteAlways stop to smell the roses...that's a gift from God. Thank you for your card, btw. It's a treasure to me.
ReplyDeleteWow, well said. You never come out on top when you do comparisons. Leave the rats to themselves, there are plenty of them to entertain themselves. Have a great day!!
ReplyDeleteThe old saying that 'comparisons are odious' is so true. Living to love others, and be loved, is the only way to contentment - you have stated it well Regine
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Maxine
Rat races are not the best in life. Even though there are disappointments in life, I know that God is always with us. I like what you wrote and shared with other people on your blog. God bless you!!
